Creating Email Address On The Server
How to set up an email address on your web hosting server.
Creating Email Addresses for Your Website
If you want to use a new email address ending with @yourdomain.com, you must first create it on your web hosting server. To do that you must login to your control panel (cPanel) and set it up from there. Below are the steps needed to do that:
Login to Your Control Panel
- In your browser’s address bar, type in www.yourdomain.com/cpanel (replacing yourdomain.com with your website name). This will prompt you for your username and password. If you do not have this, you must contact us.
Create Your Email Address
- In the Mail section, click the “Email Accounts” icon. Type in the email address and password you want to use. Give your mailbox a size limit (optional) and click Create Account. Your email address is now created. You can either use webmail to send/receive with your new email address, or you must configure your local computer to read/send email.
Other Email Functions
There are other email functions you can set while you are in the cPanel Email Accounts section:
Change Password
- Click this link to change the password for an email address.
Change Quota
- Click this link to change the size limit for an email address.
Delete
- Click this link to delete a particular email address.
Webmail
- You can access a person’s webmail from here by clicking the ‘More’ button then selecting ‘Access Webmail’. If will prompt you to enter that persons password to read the mail though. For more information on Webmail, click here.
Forwarding Email
Instead of having another mailbox to check and maintain, you can elect to have your email forwarded to an email address you already are using. People will often create an alias (something like info@yourdomain.com or sales@yourdomain.com) and just create a forward rule that tells the computer to forward all mail addressed to this alias to the respective email address you already check (such as bob@yourdomain.com). To create a mail forward rule, follow these steps:
Login to Your Control Panel
- In your browser’s address bar, type in www.yourdomain.com/cpanel (replacing yourdomain.com with your website name). This will prompt you for your username and password. If you do not have this, you must contact us.
Create Your Forward
- In the Mail section, click the “Forwarders” icon. Click “Add Forwarder”. Type in the alias of the email you and to forward and below that type the email you want it to get forwarded to. Click “Add Forwarder”.
