Using a Secure Connection for Email

Secure Email Connections

WebTek requires ALL email connections to utilize an SSL certificate to encrypt your connection to our mail server.  If your encryption type is not set correctly you will not be able to send/receive emails!   Please follow our instructions below (for Outlook, IOS, Mac Mail, & Android) to ensure your settings are configured properly.

Required Information

Outlook 2013 – 2019+

Follow these few steps in Outlook to ensure your connection is secure:

  1. For Outlook 2019 go to File > Account Settings > Server Settings, which will open a new window.
  2. Under Incoming Mail, ensure your Encryption method is set to “SSL/TLS” and your Port number is set to 993 (IMAP account) or 995 (POP account).
  3. Click on “Outgoing mail” to expand the Outgoing mail server settings.
  4. Ensure that your Encryption method is set to “SSL/TLS” and your Port number is 465.
  5. Click “Next” for Outlook to test your new account settings and save the changes.
  1. For Outlook 2013 go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings, which will open a new window.
  2. Double click on your account to open the settings, then click More Settings.
  3. Click the “Advanced” tab.
  4. Under Incoming Mail, ensure your Encryption method is set to “SSL” and your Port number is set to 993 (IMAP account) or 995 (POP account).
  5. Click on “Outgoing mail” to expand the Outgoing mail server settings.
  6. Ensure that your Encryption method is set to “SSL” and your Port number is 465
  7. Click “OK” to exit the More Settings window, then click “Next” for Outlook to test and save your new settings.

iPhone or other IOS Devices

There are 2 places you’ll need to check. Follow these few steps on your IOS device to ensure your connection is secure:

  1. Go to Settings> Passwords & Accounts > Your Account > Account > Advanced
  2. Turn on the Use SSL slider and your Server Port should update automatically.  If it does not, use 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP).
  3. Click “Account” in the top-left of your screen to go back one step.  This will save your new settings.
  4. From the Account screen, click SMTP > mail.yourdomain.com (likely your primary mail server).
  5. Turn on the “Use SSL” slider and set your ServerPort number to 465
  6. Click “Done” in the top right corner to save your settings.

Mac Mail

  1. With Mac Mail open, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Your Account > Server Settings.
  2. Uncheck the “Automatically manage connection settings” box to reveal incoming connection settings.
  3. Set the Port to be 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP).
  4. Check the “Use TLS/SSL” box.
  5. Under the Outgoin Mail Server, uncheck the “Automatically manage connection settings” box.
  6. Set the Port to be 465.
  7. Check the “Use TLS/SSL” box.
  8. Click “Save”

Android Devices

Due to the variance in Android devices, these instructions may not correspond 100% with your device

  1. Go into your Email App and click the Hamburger/Menu icon in the top left
  2. Click the settings wheel, then click your account.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and click “Server Settings”
  4. Under Incoming server, set the security type to “SSL (Accept All Certificates)” and the Port to be 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP)
  5. Scroll down to the Outgoing server settings and set the security type to “SSL (Accept All Certificates)” and the Port to be 465.
  6. Click “Done” to save your settings
